Now, let me tell you a little bit about what the forums are and what they are not ... and about how to use them:
First of all, these forums are intended to be a resource that will be technically useful and valuable to people. They are meant to be a place to get answers...and to provide them. It is intended to be primarily self-moderating, but there will be moderators, who will step in when necessary, to provide a friendly reminder.
The primary rule is to be considerate and polite to one another, even when you don't agree with what others say.
The second rule comes from the wisdom of the Budweiser Frogs:
Let it go, Louie! ... When something is way off target AND bothering someone enough to say something, the discussion should be taken OFFLINE or moved to an agreed upon alternate forum, immediately. You could, for example, start a new topic in the
Whatever forum, as long as it's kept friendly.
If a particular off-topic subject keeps coming up, we can discuss starting another forum, for that subject area.

Near the top-left of most forum pages, is a link to the User Control Panel. From there, you can access all configuration options for your account.
How to Register:The forums being introduced here are called
Registered forums. This means that you can always see the forums and read the posts, but you cannot post to the forum. To do that, you must first register as a user and log in. These forums are open to the public - anyone can register.
To register, click on
Register, near the top of most pages. It's pretty straight-forward, but let me know if you have any problems. After you register, you must wait until you receive an email, which will have a link. Click on the link, to activate your account.
Posting a Message:After you have logged in, scroll down, if necessary, and click on the discussion forum that is most appropriate for your topic. Either click on one of the topic threads, to update an existing topic, or click on
New Thread, to start a new discussion. You will then be presented with a form that looks like a new email form. You don't need to do anything except type a
Subject, type the message to post, scroll down, and click on
Submit. All of the other things shown are formatting and other options.
Finding an Existing Post:Click on
Search, at the top of most forum pages. Then, enter your search text and click
Search. You will be presented with a list of all posts that contain the search text, as specified. Just click on a match, to see that post.
Alternatively, you can go to what seems the logical forum and topic area and look there. Or, you may already know, where the post is located.
Subscribing to Topics:You can subscribe, to any topic of interest. When a topic you are subscribed to is replied to, an email will be sent to the email address that you registered. The email will contain a link, to the topic that has been replied to. You will only receive one email per topic until the next time you log in to the board.

Watch this topic for replies, at the top of the page displaying the topic. To unsubscribe from a topic, click
Stop watching this topic, at the top of the page displaying the topic.
